Koh Phangan is great for adventure

Today Koh Phangan island is the most famous destination for backpackers, and those harboring a spirit of adventure. Size wise, Koh Phangan is as big as Samui, and is found to the north of the shore of Samui island. You can see Koh Phangan island from Samui island as it takes only a half hour boat ride from Suratthani or the Maenam and Bophut piers of Samui to reach it.

After the boat ride from Koh Phangan, you reach Thong Sala and Haad Rin where most resorts can be accessed through pickup trucks. There are about hundred small budget bungalow resorts found ringing Koh Phangan. Here again accommodation in Koh Phangan ranges from the remote to moderately priced bungalows.

Head to Haad Rin for comfort in Koh Phangan

The most comfortable places here are found lining Haad Rin beach, where there is a small village with discos, bars and restaurants to keep you entertained at night. It is interesting to learn that Koh Phangan is famous for its full moon party where you find thousands who gather to watch the rising of the full moon from the sea.

Basically, Koh Phangan island is a very much less developed island where there is only a rudimentary system of rough tracks that criss-cross the island. These tracks link only a few breaches found here. telephones are a scarcity on Koh Phangan while the resorts generate their own electricity. There are also some bungalows that provide you a glimpse of your forefather's lives as there is no electricity here; oil lamps are used for illumination.
